Flags4Vets Invites Louisville Area Volunteers to help place flags on 7,500 Veterans Graves at Cave Hill Cemetery for Veterans Day.
This is a Flags4Vets Kid-friendly event.
You must park your car and gather at Breckinridge School, 1351 Payne Street, which is within 100 feet of the U.S. Military Section of Cave Hill Cemetery. We will pass out grave flags then enter the cemetery as a group at 11:00 AM.
DO NOT ENTER CAVE HILL BY ANY OTHER GATE.
Strollers and wagons are OK. No bikes or pets allowed.

Female Veterans will be the focus of the Town of Clarksville’s annual Celebration of Veterans on Sunday, November 6th. The event will be held from 2:00-3:00pm at the Veterans Place Memorial located behind Town Hall.
The theme for our 2022 celebration will be “80 Years of Women in the Military,” and will feature a nearly all female line-up of speakers, singers, and other participants. The keynote address will be presented by Lt. Col. Amy McGrath, USMC Ret. McGrath served more than 20 years in the United States Marine Corps., flying more than 89 missions as a pilot in Iraq and Afghanistan. She later went on to run for Senate and started a non-profit organization.
The event will also include a color guard, the playing of TAPS, and a performance of harpist and singer Erin Hill, a harpist & singer based out of New York City, Chicago, and Louisville, KY. She’s had a #1 album on the Billboard world chart and has played with Cyndi Lauper, Kanye West, Enya, Moby, Sinead O’Connor, a-ha, Josh Groban, and Jewel. She has also performed for celebrities, two First Ladies, and royalty.
All local Veterans and residents are welcome to attend this special celebration.

Join us as we honor those who have served our country by making mini wreaths. You will be given pre-cut pieces of red, white, and blue tulle to tie onto your wreath form in the pattern of your choice. You can display your completed wreath on your door or in your home, or gift it to a veteran in your life.

To honor those who are serving and who have served our country in military service, the Louisville Zoo is offering active and retired / discharged military and their dependents FREE general admission on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. Those wishing to participate must simply have proof of military service (including but not limited to: U.S Uniformed Services ID Card, U.S. Uniformed Services Retired ID Card, current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), veterans organization card (i.e., American Legion, VFW), photograph of yourself in uniform, wearing uniform, DD214 and citation or commendation) and present it at the Zoo’s admission windows. This offer is available at the Zoo windows only and is not valid for online ticket purchases.
In addition, on this day, active, retired military and their dependents (with a military identification card) will receive:
10%* off gift shop purchases (*certain exceptions may apply)
50% off food and drink concessions
Active military receive free admission year-round at the Zoo. Active military dependents receive 10% off admission year-round. Must be accompanied by active military personnel. Not valid for packages with rides/attractions or special event tickets. Tickets must be purchased at the Zoo windows with a valid ID. Offer not available for online purchases. Military personnel are encouraged to check with the Leisure Travel offices at their bases in advance of their visit for other available discounts.

WWII Veteran Appreciation Day Brunch & Parade
We will be celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Pearl Harbor Day all in one day with our veterans! Our brunches will culminate this year by celebrating our WWII veterans and honoring the legacy of our Greatest Generation. Pearl Harbor Day changed the lives of our WWII veterans as well as their families. We invite our WWII veterans and their families to start the celebration with a brunch, followed by a ceremony and an in the car parade as we pass by the St. Matthews schools!
-Brunch (private) is from 9-10:15
-Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance and Veteran Recognition Ceremony (open to the public) starts at 10:30 so get there a little earlier
-Veteran Parade to follow (public can line the parking lot and the exit out)
